Help For Harper

Hi, my name is Sipora and I am raising medical funding for my dear friend Harper the Havanese (owned by Susan & Adam). Harper was hit by a car Monday evening (June 12th) and we are all extremely devastated. Harper was rushed to Horizon Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Ventura, CA and diagnosed with a broken pelvis and is still receiving more testing. Harper is very scared and desperately wants to be home with his family.
This has been heartbreaking to endure for everyone that knows and loves Harper. As of now, the medical bills are estimated to be between $13,000 and $18,000. When Harper was brought in Monday evening he was stabilized and x-rayed which showed multiple pelvic fractures and broken ribs. He was given an IV drip for pain meds and a catheter. He is currently being monitored for swelling and internal bleeding. Luckily, so far, his spinal cord looks ok which is positive news regarding paralyzation.

On Wednesday the 14th, Susan and Adam will be transporting Harper to Veterinary Medical & Surgical Group where he will have a cat scan and finally see a surgeon. They were able to be with him a bit today at the hospital (Tuesday), the pain meds are kicking in, but Harper just wants to go home.

Harper was adopted by Susan eight years ago when her sister Robin was fostering him and his littermates. Susan felt an instant connection with Harper and the rest is history.
Harper is a funny, loving, friendly, spunky, little white dog with a handsome underbite. Everyone who meets him instantly falls in love with him....except for the Amazon man. But alas, Harper is a fierce protector of his home, and I have some suspicions about the Amazon man too. Harper is a working dog. He goes to work every day with Susan and Adam. As soon as he hears "Ready to go?", he knows it's time to roll. He does sleep most of the day at work, but I don't hold it against him. Harper loves to go on hikes with Adam in Ojai. Zoomies up and down the trail, dipping his belly into the cool water and then doing his favorite thing- rolling around in dry dirt until he is no longer a white dog.

Some more about Harper:
He loves the beach and rolling in the sand. His favorite restaurant is the Deer Lodge in Ojai where he gets his usual Doggie burger. You might have seen him there on a Thursday night if you live in town. He loves stuffed animals. He has a giant bin in the living room filled with his stuffed animals which he likes to stare at for a few minutes before picking out the best one......and then maniacally pulls out the stuffing!
Harper is not a glutton. He eats until he's full and then he stops. But he will hide his leftovers under couch pillows, bed pillows, closets, and laundry bins. It's a genius move if you ask me, snacks under the bed pillow.... genius!
We understand finances are hard for many people at this time but we would all be very grateful for any monetary support to help Harper. And if you are unable to give money, we are also accepting prayers, well wishes, good vibes, and healing energy. I will be updating this Go Fund Me as we get more information. Harper is a strong, loving, resilient dog. My wish is that Harper makes a full recovery and can go back to his life. He deserves it.
