Deer Fencing at Silverbrook Farm

Welcome to Silverbrook Farm, where we're on a mission to protect our crops from the biggest bandits in town - the deer! At Silverbrook Farm, we operate on around 10 acres of land and 1/2 acre of greenhouse space. We're committed to contributing to our local food system, and we do this through our roadside farm stand, farmers' markets, and our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. We also partner with other farms in the South Coast to bring a full array of products to consumers.

Unfortunately, for the past five years, the majority of our crops have been eaten by pesky animals, mostly deer. This has caused a significant financial strain on our farm, and it has limited the types of produce we can provide to our customers at farmers' markets and in our CSA program. We rely on crops to feed low-income people through the SNAP/HIP food assistance program in Massachusetts, and we're determined to keep doing this. For five years, we've relied on temporary fencing, but it's no longer strong or high enough to keep the deer out of our fields.

That's why we're asking for your help to install permanent deer fencing. With your support, we can protect our crops from these pesky animals, increase our production, and provide healthy food options to all members of our community, regardless of their income level. We know that local agriculture is essential, especially in a world where food transportation and distribution systems can be fragile.

We're planning to install an 8' high-tensile game fence around our main fields. This type of fence is designed to withstand the pressure from large animals like deer and is the best option to ensure that they won't be able to break through and munch on our crops. By installing this fence, we'll be able to expand the variety of produce we grow and reduce the financial strain that losing whole fields of crops has caused us in the past years.
