Hi my name is Kyiam and my husband is Tobias and our family are asking for your help as on my birthday our property got affected by the fires and with what has been lost rebuild is going to be costly as we did not have insurance.
I first came to the property with my dad as a child at just 4 years old. More than 30 years ago, my father started a paintball business Skirmish War Games on this land—something he poured his energy, passion, and time into. As a teenager, I worked alongside him, learning not just how to run a business, but how to work hard, help others, and build something that brought people together.
As I grew older, married, and we had 5 children of our own, this place became part of their lives too. My kids spent countless days here—helping out, playing, learning, laughing, and making memories that will stay with them forever. It wasn’t just a business; it was a way of life, and it became a place that meant something to so many people who came through its gates over the years.
On 19 May 2024, my father passed away. He is now buried on the property he loved and built with his own hands. After his passing, we were in the process of preparing to reopen the paintball business—to honour his legacy and continue what he started—but we hadn’t yet reached that stage.
Then the Deep Creek fires came.
In a matter of hours, everything was gone. The house that had been in the family for many years. The paintball business. Equipment. Structures. Decades of work, memories, and history—destroyed. This loss has affected not only our immediate family, but also the many friends, helpers, and community members who were part of this place over the years.
Right now, we are facing the reality of rebuilding from nothing—while also grieving the loss of my father and the land that holds so much meaning to our family. This GoFundMe is not just about rebuilding structures; it’s about preserving a legacy and giving us a chance to stand back up after an unimaginable loss.
My husband had a bus hit him back in 2006 and suffered a brain injury so he does not work and I am his carer so we have a low income
Any support—whether through a donation or by sharing this page—means more than words can express. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for helping us move forward during the hardest chapter of our lives.
