Deena Polakoff

Hello, my name is Elissa, and I am the daughter of Deena Polakoff. Deena suddenly fell ill with pancreatitis and ketoacidosis on August 12th 2023. I was able to make it to see her on August 13th, 2023, on my own birthday. She was rapidly declining in that 24 hours and was only being kept alive by sedation, dialysis, and a ventilator. The doctors were seeing even more decline at a very swift rate and it was deemed she would not recover from the pancreatic attack and the acid in her blood stream was at a deadly rate + renal failure was occuring. August 14th they asked for DNR request since her heart was liable to stop at any second. Reviving her would only be for moments instead of giving her any chance to fight. They could not do surgery in the state she was in. She would have passed on the operating table.

Prio to this event my mother showed no indications of being ill whatsoever. This came as a complete shock to me, and to lose her within 24 hours of finding everything out. On August 14th, at 4 pm cst her heart stopped, and she went to heaven to be with my her two sons, and my two brothers, Ken and Scott. I hope she did not suffer and was able to hear the message I told her before she passed.

I am asking for funds to help with cremation, moving services, closing accounts, lost time at work, and help with her rent. I may have over shot or undershot this request, I have no idea what I'm doing and trying my best all by myself.

When more is clear, a date for a celebration of life will be given. Thanks for reading.
