Rally for Deeder
Donation protected
Our friend Deeder Petersen always squeezes as much out of life as possible. From the Idaho wilderness to local trails to Baldy, Deeder can be found hiking, biking, and skiing, most often in the company of good friends and family.
Deeder is the best kind of friend and person. When you are with him, he sees you. He listens and is always present in the conversation with his laugh an ever-ready accompaniment.
Growing up in Ketchum, Deeder possesses and has always displayed that we are a community that helps one another and can rely on each other. And now it is our turn to be there for Deeder and his family, Teresa and Onni.
In June of 2023, Deeder was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer that had metastasized to his bones and lymph nodes, meaning the cancer cells had spread throughout his skeleton. After six rounds of chemotherapy his numbers have returned to near normal. However, this type of cancer has no cure and a regimen of daily oral chemo, monthly bone shots and quarterly hormone-therapy treatments are required to keep the cancer cells in check.
The treatments have left him with low red blood cells and hemoglobin counts resulting in anemia. Luckily, Deeder is able to work but only half the number of hours as usual. The yearly cost of treatment is about $35,000-$40,000 out-of-pocket. There is no end to this treatment until a cure is found.
It is our goal to raise enough money to help cover the cost of these treatments to keep Deeder on the trails, on the slopes, and in our lives where he belongs - squeezing as much out of life as possible.
Thank you very much.
