DeeDee's Heart Surgery

Story

Please help us raise funds to help our coworker and dear friend Dianne (DeeDee) to help with medical and living expenses. On the evening of Thursday April 10th, DeeDee was admitted to Mary Washington Hospital. She was brought into the hospital by her son. After testing it was discovered that she has 3 heart valves that were not functioning properly. One artificial valve that ceased working and two other valves that are leaking and causing fluid buildup around her heart. Over the course of a week, her situation became very complex and Mary Washington Hospital decided it would be best to transfer her to the cardiac department at UVA for a second opinion and for the surgery to be performed there. Deedee was medically transported and arrived at UVA Hospital the evening of Tuesday April 22nd. She was evaluated by doctors and surgeons the following day. She underwent the procedure today Thursday April 24th. With updates from family members we have learned that the surgery went well and she is currently in recovery. These past 11 (plus more) days of being out of work and in the hospital has caused an extreme amount of financial stress on DeeDee due to the amount of medical bills she has acquired on top of her regularl living expenses.
