Making a Difference for Dee Dee
Dee Dee Toole Carrell was diagnosed
with stage IIIc small bowel carcinoma on November 17th, at just 48 years old.
The following day she underwent
bowel resection surgery and within
weeks she started chemotherapy.
Due to extensive surgery, chemotherapy and side effects she was not able
to return to work until late February.
Shortly after her return, tragedy struck
again when Dee Dee’s father passed
away unexpectedly.
Being a Registered Nurse for over 17
years, she was eager to get back to
caring for others, despite
her own struggles. When asked why she was at work Dee Dee responded, “I thought maybe that one phone call or that one visit could help my patient.” I thought about her cancer
battle, her 3 young children and the loss of her father. I responded, “you’re my hero!”
After 6 rounds of chemotherapy
Dee Dee received more troubling news...her tumor had grown. This time involving the psoas muscle and another area of concern.
Currently, round 7 of chemo is on hold
as a second surgery is recommended.
Dee Dee’s doctors are not
certain if the tumor can be resected and are preparing her for the possibility of 2
surgeries.
In the past 6 months, Dee Dee has
exhausted all her paid leave. The
upcoming surgeries will only put her out of work longer and without pay.
Please help us support Dee Dee so she
and her family can focus on
treatment and recovery.
There is no donation too small, every
penny helps! Thank you all in advance for
“Making a Difference for Dee Dee.”
