Dedicated substitute needs car

Hi, my name is Jacquenetta Armstead. I am a dedicated substitute in Houston, Texas. The hardest thing I've ever had to do is learn to ask for help. I've always been the one helping those in need and now I'm having to ask. This is definitely not where I imagined I'd be right now, or what I imagined I'd be doing.

In December, I got up to go Uber to supplement my very small income and my car froze causing the engine to throw a rod and the starter to go out. It would have cost twice as much to fix it as we paid for the car. Since then I have either catching a ride to work with a co-worker, or getting up at 3:00 AM, leaving the house at 4:00 AM to catch 3 buses to be at work by 6:40 AM as the next series of buses would make me late. It's a 2 1/4 hour bus ride to work and 2 3/4 hour ride home. I also have to decide each payday whether to have lights or a phone because both are not always possible on $236.00 a month after all the money for my home comes out of my check, I put some money on my bus card, and buy a little something to eat. I'd been Ubering for the last 5 years to keep me afloat but have been struggling just to survive over the last 5 months. I just need to raise $4,424.64 plus the fees in order to get another, more reliable car. Any help anyone can give would be appreciated whether it's $2.00 or $20.00. People always talk about how wonderful teachers are and how they need to be paid much more, but no one ever mentions the support staff that usually makes 50-70% less than teachers. I just need transportation......And I really want to go see my grandchildren in San Antonio as well, I haven't seen them since September.
