We have started this fundraiser for our dear friend Declan Crawford.

Declan has been given a short period of time to live due to liver and lung cancer.

Declan has been very ill over the last few years and hospitalised many times but the doctors could never pinpoint a problem until recently.

As Deco's friends, we were heartbroken for him as he has always been so full of energy and life and so determined in everything that he done. To witness his own body go against him has been devastating.

We all knew something was very wrong.

In July 2025 the doctors discovered a cancerous growth on the liver, and Deco was told that he had months, if not weeks to live. Withing a couple of weeks the cancer has rapidly progressed to his lungs.

This has all been a shock to digest for Deco and his family and friends and we wanted to set up this fundraiser for a couple of reasons.

The first is to let people know what Deco is going through.

Deco, in his life has helped so many people.

He fought his way out of addiction and he is probably one of the last men standing from that generation.

He fought his own demons very hard and used his experience to help others.

He went back to college.

Started from scratch and painstakingly worked his way up to masters level in psychotherapy and counselling.

Then he then opened his own practice doing something that he absolutely loved and was brilliant at.

To us, Declan is one of the very few people that embodies what he preaches.

Music and learning to play the guitar was a form of therapy for him.

It became a passion when he began to put his own experience into words and write his own music. He was then asked to support some of the people that he really looked up to such Christy Dignam, Guggi Glen Hansard and many more.

Deco would never tell you that though, as for him, it was more about having that experience and the gratitude and passion that he has for it ❤️

He also used music as a tool to reach people that were really struggling.

We very blessed to have gotten to witness Deco's journey and we want let people know what's going now and for him to have all the support he deserves.

Deco worked very closely with Father Peter Mc Ferry because he was so inspired by him and his values.

He developed & implemented the current psychoeducation model that is used in the Lantern Treatment Centre to this day. Through his deep empathy he was well known for being in the frontline and in the trenches and particularly being able to help the hard to reach.

He has had his own struggles over the years, like many of us but he tried extremely hard to overcome everything, however every time he tried, his body would give in. At the time no one knew why, but now we know!

Deco didn't ask for this fundraiser, as he never asks for anything but when Deco was younger and just out of treatment, he flew to Medjugoria to explore his own spiritual beliefs and he had a profound experience there that profoundly changed him for the better.

Deco believes that travelling there again might be his only hope.

We want to raise funds for Deco to go to Medjugoria as we believe that he more than deserves this opportunity.

Deco has been offered to accompany the Jusuit Priests to go to the place that he went to before, and he needs to pay for flights, accommodation, medical and living expenses.

Please help us to get Deco over to Medjugoria and donate or else keep Deco in your thoughts and prayers.

Declan is going through alot right now and is currently finding ways with his doctors to manage pain etc
