Declan Strong
Donation protected
I am creating this GoFundMe on behalf of Ben and Emily Harless for their newborn bundle of joy... My nephew, Declan James Harless.

Baby Declan was born November 25th, at a healthy weight of 7 pounds 3 ounces. His arrival into this world came with some unforeseen complications. After a difficult labor, Emily had to have a C-section for the delivery of our precious boy. When Declan was delivered, he required resuscitation for approximately 30 minutes. Once stabilized, he was transferred to Brenner’s Children Hospital, where he received treatment to minimize the damage that occurred to his brain from being without oxygen for so long. He stayed at Brenner’s, in the NICU for 10 days, and had many tests performed. Unfortunately, an MRI of Declan’s brain did show several areas of damage. The doctors say that only time will tell, if and when, he will have any deficits.

He is home now, and mommy and daddy are doing their best to adjust to parenthood under these circumstances. In addition to this rough start as new parents, Declan’s start in life has also been very expensive, as Ben and Emily will have a minimum of $15,000 to pay out of pocket in medical expenses. I am starting this GoFundMe in hopes to ease the financial burden to allow them to focus solely on becoming a family of three, after experiencing such a traumatic event.

Any contributions towards the Harless family will mean the world to me. During Emily’s pregnancy, Ben and Emily went above and beyond to ensure the healthiest pregnancy possible... Exercising, eating healthy, (even avoiding caffeine), all to have this happen in the end. It just breaks my heart to see them hurting after experiencing a situation no one could possibly prepare for. I greatly appreciate any considerations for donations, thoughts, and/or prayers. If you are unable to contribute financially, but you want to help, you can help by sharing this post, in hopes to expand our outreach.
Declan has already proven to be a miracle baby and a fighter. He is strong like his mommy and daddy. Thank you for all of the love and support.
