On December 5th 2019 my family was given the most unimaginable and tragic news a family can get. My eight month old Nephew Declan Donnelly (Trombino) was Diagnosed with Neuroblastoma.
In the week that has followed Declan has had two surgeries, began chemotherapy and a countless number or scans and tests. During the first surgery Declan had complications that led his medical team to immediately stop surgery and begin chest compressions. Declan was admitted to PICU at Mass General Hospital where he fought to recover from fluid and air in and around his heart along with low blood pressure. This only tells a piece of what this young warrior has gone through and his fight is just beginning...
My sister and brother in-law Lia and Andrew Donnelly have already shown a courage and strength that only few have while facing this terrible disease. For those of us lucky enough to be a part of this amazing family you already know how Andrew , Lia and Declan have touched so many of us. Declan has an unwitting spirit, a light that shines brighter than the stars and a smile and personality that is so infectious perfect strangers stop and marvel at him. Lia and Andrew have been the catalyst of raising this amazing gift to all of us.
Now is an opportunity for all of us to give back to them....
Due to the time and care Declan needs, Lia has had to stop working. As many of us can imagine there is so much emotional, physical and financial drain that families experience during these fights. Lia and Andrew need to keep their focus and energy on getting Declan healthy and ready to begin a new amazing chapter of his life.
So many of you have already called and asked "how can I help"? The prayers and support you have shown them in the short time since Declan's diagnosis has simply put, been amazing. Now we are asking for your help once again. The money raised here is going to give relief to the family so their focus and energy remains squarely on King Declan.
