Deckerville Native Loses Everything in Flood

Donation protected

Early this morning my sister, Shelby (Deckerville graduate), her partner Mark, and their two daughters Paisley (5) and Kinsley (15 months) were victims of a disastrous flash flood that claimed all of their belongings.

The family was living in their camping trailer while they remodeled their home in Carlisle, KY (Nicholasville County, KY). During the night the flood quickly overtook their camper after Shelby opened the door to escape. The family had to swim to the rear of their camper to climb the ladder to the top of the camping trailer and wait to be rescued by the emergency rescue boating crews. One of their neighbors lost their life in the flood.

Since flooding is a "special" situation, insurance does not cover flood damage unless you carry a flood rider which is not offered in all areas.

The family is in need of everything, basic necessities, clothing, housing, etc. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated! Updates will be posted as we receive them.
