Dominique's Story

From the moment Dominique was born in November 2021, we knew she was extraordinary. Born with an underdeveloped right hand and unique behaviours, Dominique was later diagnosed with Xia-Gibbs Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder with fewer than 800 documented cases worldwide as of August 2025.

One of the hallmark challenges of this condition is developmental delay. Every day, we work tirelessly to support Dominique's physical and cognitive growth. But to give her the best chance to thrive, we rely on specialist professional care.

Why Intensive Therapy Matters

Since March 2023, we've taken Dominique abroad each year for intensive rehabilitation programmes. These two-week sessions of concentrated physiotherapy have led to remarkable improvements in her mobility, confidence, and overall development, progress we simply cannot achieve with the limited resources available in the UK.

Dominique is now a proud big sister to Margaux (born November 2023) and continues to flourish through daily exercise, adapted play, swimming, reading and social interaction - all supported by the unwavering love of her family and community.

Why we're fundraising

Each intensive rehabilitation visit costs £8000. While we've funded previous treatments ourselves the ongoing cost is significant. We're reaching out to our extended network; family, friends, colleagues and supporters, to help us fund Dominique's next sessions. These therapies make a tangible, life-changing difference to her future.

Your donation will provide specialist one-to-one physiotherapy, strengthening Dominique's mobility, independence, and confidence.

How we're fundraising

This December, our team is taking on a triple challenge - braving the icy waters of the English channel, running and cycling through whatever weather December throws at us. Every mile, every stroke and every pedal will be powered by our determination and commitment to support Domi.
