Decatur County Sheriff Deputy SO9

On Saturday, February 27th Seminole County, GA, Deputies were involved in a high speed chase with armed suspects. The chase continued into Decatur County, GA, where DC Sheriff's Deputy Bedwell (SO-9) joined the pursuit.
The suspects drove into the driveway of a Decatur County residence and attempted to gain entry by shooting through the door.
The homeowner returned fire and the suspects fled the residence.
As Bedwell was arriving in the area, one of the suspects shot at the his vehicle, striking him.
Bedwell was LifeFighted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, in Tallahassee, FL.
I met with Bedwell's wife and was told what none of us wanted to hear. That Bedwell was critically injured. The Hospital is preparing him for several, deeply invasive and complicated surgeries. His injuries are extensive and his recovery will be long and difficult.
As anyone who's spent a lengthy time with a loved one in the hospital knows, there are SO many hidden costs: travel, meals, loss of full income, sitters, the list go on and on...And there is no way of calculating the loss to the family.
I have known Bedwell for over 20yrs. We attended the Police Academy together in the early 2000s. He is currently assigned to the Sex Offender Division of the Decatur County Sherriff's Office. He is one of the best men I know. Quick with a joke and always upbeat. I'm humbly asking for your assistance in helping the family in this time of crisis. Help serve him as he has always served our community; with honor and respect.
