Debbie's battle for life and home

Donation protected
On February 20th Debbie was not feeling well at work and her co-workers drove her to the hospital.   They checked her into the ER that afternoon and she was diagnosed with Pneumonia.  It took the doctors a long time to break her fever and when they did her blood pressure had dropped so low it put her into septic shock.  At that point they admitted her to the ICU, where they had to put her on life support medication to raise her blood pressure.  She seemed like she was making progress, then on Feb. 22nd her breathing from the Pneumonia had gotten so bad they had to mildly sedate her and she needed the assistance of a ventilator.  On Feb. 23rd the doctor found she had developed ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome).  At that point they had to put her into a medically induced coma and completely take over her breathing with the ventilator to help her rest.  She is still on the assistance of the ventilator but she has made a lot of progress since that day and will hopefully make a
full recovery.

This recent battle is one of many she has to faces in the past two years.  In 2015 she lost her husband of 37 years to a sudden heart attack.  Later that year the heat went out in her house right before winter.  One of the only people with the know how to help, her brother in law was in his own fight after having a stroke.  She turned to her credit union to apply for financial assistance the first time of many to be denied.  She made the best of it purchased space heaters and endured the Wisconsin winter without an appropriate heating system.   At the time I (her son) was on deployment to the Persian Gulf aboard the USS. Harry S. Truman and unable to assist.  In February 2016 I made the difficult decision to discharge from the U.S. Navy to fly home and assist her.  Shortly after moving my family to Wisconsin her well pump went out leaving her with no running water.  She approached her credit union for the second time to refinance her home that had an interest rate of 9%!  They denied her again, so she went to them a third time to apply for a loan for home repairs.  The credit union said she did not qualify.  She made the decision at that point to move into a rental home with me to get her quality of life back.  Since moving in September she has been riddled with illnesses on and off for the last six months.  With her most recent one being her near fatal struggle with pneumonia.

Now her house has recently gone into foreclosure and the credit union is seeking REIMBURSMENT FOR ANY REPAIRS that the house needs?! The credit union has indicated it will pursue a deficiency judgement on the property after the sale as well... I've exhausted most of my resources to help and I don't know where else to turn.

We are setting up this fund in attempt to alleviate some medical expenses and/or to help get her life back on track after this horrible illness. We will keep everyone updated of her progress while she is in the ICU and hospital and during her recovery. Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated.
