Greetings family! My name is Kasan Belgrave, saxophonist, flautist, composer, and most importantly, a MUSIC LOVER. It is with great pleasure for me to promote my debut album “DUAL CITIZEN” releasing in September!! It has been a loooongg journey, definitely not an easy one; but THE TIME HAS FINALLY COME! I’m glad to be telling my story about my life journey as “just a kid from Detroit” loving the life of a being a DETROIT musician and being able to share and connect with the great musicians in this community and henceforth throughout the rest of the world.
I’ve been very blessed throughout my musical journey through the love of my family and the people within the music community in Detroit that I’ve called family, which is important for every prospective student having a passion, a desire, to play music and to further their education and knowledge. I am proud to be a product of Detroit’s model of family-oriented mentorship, leadership, and discipline-driven customs of the practice and study of jazz. At a young age, I realized what it took to become a great musician like my father Marcus Belgrave - the love, alone, was a small testament of his never-ending interest. The love of performing, teaching, practicing, listening, singing; down to the very particle, that was my father’s life. To see him impact many around the world and to see them on the world stages since the 1980’s, I had no other choice but to strive for the same.
After enduring a lot of setbacks throughout the last few years, including the car accident in July 2021, I finally feel balanced & sturdy on my own two feet again. This album will be a recollection of my upbringing tied to my current musical and life endeavors. To all whom I’ve crossed paths with; family; friends; mentors; my music is for you, and for you is why I play.
I’m asking for your help for the cd & vinyl production costs, distribution, & promotion of my record “Dual Citizen”! The album, which is 10 Tracks, is ready to go right after the mix and mastering process. The goal is to have cds to you all by August, and vinyls at least by mid-September, and to have the album playing on radio stations overseas. Your help, regardless of the amount of your gift, will contribute greatly to my mission for this record. Thank you for the support to make my debut album come into fruition!!
