Hi everyone,

It’s not really about me — this fundraiser is for Paco, my cat and my baby.

Many people know Paco as the adventure cat — the one who walked on a leash, rode on my shoulder, and loved exploring the streets and bike paths with me.

Recently, I moved into a new shared house with about 60 people. I asked everyone to please keep the doors closed, since Paco and my other cat, Poca, were still getting used to the new environment and could try to run outside.

Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened — Paco slipped out and was hit by a car.

The injuries are devastating:

-His hip is fractured

-His jaw is broken in half

-He might have head trauma

-His front leg is broken

-His organs were squished, and it’s unclear if there will be long-term complications

The vet told me I had two options:

-Somehow find €5,000–€7,000 in the next few days to stabilize him and take him to another clinic for surgeries, or

-Euthanize him.

That was unbearable to even think about.

Then I was told there might be a third option: to surrender Paco to a shelter after stabilizing him. The shelter would cover the medical costs for the operations, but I’d lose all rights to him and wouldn’t even know where he ends up. I wasn’t even allowed to say goodbye.

So I’m starting this fundraiser to cover Paco’s medical expenses, to keep him stable, and hopefully to find him again and bring him back home one day. If he ends up with special needs, I’ll use any remaining funds to care for him and make sure he has a good, comfortable life.

Even the smallest donation helps. It doesn’t have to be one person giving a lot. If many people give a little, we can save him together.
