This is a humble request for financial assistance on behalf of mom, Debra, “Deb.”

If you know Deb, you know that communication is her life. Currently, and in her previous careers, she has been a master of communication. Over the previous two decades, Deb has worked as a radio dispatcher for Border Patrol. On November 28, 2020, life changed dramatically. Deb suffered a severe stroke. The stroke has left her with some deficits and decreased ability which will require intensive rehabilitation and therapy prior to any return to work, which has resulted in a loss of income.

Given the extensive need for therapy and rehabilitation Deb has taken leave from work. In an effort to allow her to heal, an application for Leave without Pay (LWOP) was submitted and approved. LWOP is a temporary non-pay status and absence from duty; this status not only affects Deb’s paychecks, but also how benefits are paid and retained. As well, the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) application was submitted; this is also a temporary non-pay status and absence from duty. As you can imagine, not working, has made it financially difficult to receive the rehabilitation necessary for a return to independent-living. Any donations are welcome and appreciated.
