Deb's healing fund

A note from Deb:

First and foremost, huge thanks to everyone for the positive thoughts and prayers sent my way!  it has been very much appreciated and I'm  a lucky girl.

Second, my apologies, this may be a bit of a read.
I had to mess with the status quo on Sunday June 27th (yes, my birthday) by falling on my neck to a concrete floor, fracturing the C4 and C5.  Big kudos to BJW and the Double D's.  Your quick thinking was crucial in my great progress thus far.  You're simply the BEST!  (...as ewww-David would say, Better than all the rest....)

To my BBFS (and hype man FBIL), FSITW and FDIL - your presence and support has been steadfast and amazing.  You ROCK!
I have nothing but great things to say about my care at MHealth.  Nurses are truly superheroes.  I had one of the best for 3 days (Thanks, Edda!).  So many great caregivers and incredible surgery team.  I only want to return in order to say thanks vertically.
After 2 fun-filled days in a halo, I had surgery on Tuesday to fuse the C4/C5 together and add a plate. There were a few interesting twists and turns in there but surgery was successful.  (Quick shout out to Patrick M - you were awesome.) Was able to come home Thursday afternoon with my new accessory (C Collar, no it's not bedazzled), and am feeling better every day.  I'm a bit stir crazy with limited movement, etc., but am following orders so I don't hinder my progress and healing.  Feel free to ask additional questions, but please don't be offended if I don't answer.  I'm a pretty private person, not an over sharer and do not have ASDD (attention seeking deficit disorder).  Thank you for understanding.

A few fun facts about the ICU:  You better be a night person.  You better be a morning person.  I hope you like parades from 5:30 to about 8:00 am that doesn't include fun floats, marching bands and candy toss.  There may be other patient noises.  All.  Night.  Long.  (Imagine Moira in her movie, The Crows Have Eyes 3). Bring your own ear plugs.
So many of you have asked how to help or what I need - I greatly appreciate your thoughts.  Being the practical person I am, please do not send flowers.  Not that I don't like them, I just won't be able to enjoy them.  Cards/texts - amazing.  My friend Brenda has also set up a gofundme, if you are so inclined to donate.  Very much appreciated.  I can only imagine my stay at Hotel ICU will be a bit pricy.  Believe me, it will go on my Yelp review.

A quick PSA:  Two years ago I made a decision to focus on my fitness and nutrition.  This decision has proven to be key in my recovery.  If you have a plan and are working on this for yourself, KEEP GOING AND KICK ASS!  If you haven't, do your health a favor and look to making a plan, start slow with small changes.  These turn in to bigger changes.  Your mental health will also improve (nice added bonus in my opinion).  What has helped me is @beachbody streaming, youtube videos and Cori @tco (along with my boot camp b*tches).  There are thousands of apps/videos/resources.  Find something that works for you and DO IT.  And keep doing it.  And doing it.

Thank you for reading this far - apparently I had a lot to say!  Thanks for your love, support, thoughts, prayers and all of that.  Keep it coming.

Love to all.
Deb
