Deb’s Fight for Life and More Time

Deb Gussey is a remarkable single Mum who has struggled to raise four children on her own without support. She has worked at anything and everything to provide for her kids and keep a roof over their heads. She is always positive and ready to assist anyone. During the December bushfire disaster at Eungella and Dalrymple Heights she was one of several contact people who kept the media and wider community informed about the imminent disaster situation at Eungella. She is an amazing lady!

Last year Deb received the devastating news that she had breast cancer. Eight weeks into her treatment, which included a mastectomy, chemo and radiation in Brisbane, away from her kids, she received the devastating news that her cancer had spread to her bones and she has been given a survival prognosis of 2-3 years. Her youngest child is still only 12 years old.

Deb struggles to finance her trips to Brisbane for ongoing treatment  in the hope of extending her life so that she can see her kids grow, blossom and become independent.

Ever positive and thinking about others she has started a very personal and informative blog “My Breast Cancer Journey” about her journey and fight to survive. 

Deb is unable to finance ‘positive memories’ for her family to enjoy and recall in years to come.
