I want to start off by saying THANK YOU for taking the time to look in to my mom’s GoFundMe account. She is 64 years young and a wonderfully kind hearted person. Her and my dad purchased a business in southern Oregon (The Butte Creek Mill) 10 years ago after living in Portland most of their lives. They both have been working 7 days a week to keep this historical place running. They have put their heart and souls into making The Mill a place ALL can enjoy=)

About two months ago we learned my mom had been diagnosed with stage 4 Lung Cancer. That cancer has metastasized to her other lung, liver, bones (vertebrae, hip, rib, shoulder) and lymph nodes. She also has fractions on her hip and vertebrae.
She found all this out after seeing a doctor due to a slight cough and some pain she was having in her right leg that lasted over a month. When the doctor said it was lung cancer it took us all by shock, especially given the fact she is not a smoker and has been healthy and active her whole life. The doctor had her start radiation right away because of the fractions and the pain they were causing. The radiation was extremely hard on her body and now the doctors’ worry about the side effects chemo will have given it’s not a cure just a slight delay. That being said, after long consideration my parents have decided to head up to OHSU in Portland and embark on a clinical trial for Immune Therapy in hopes to save her life. It is very scary to be a so-called “Ginny pig” but even if it doesn’t help my mom, she feels VERY good knowing how much she is helping the future of medicine and its patients.
My siblings and I have started this account to help make this painful process a little bit easier for them. Not only do they have the obvious medical expenses, they will now have to travel to Portland (5hours each way) every other week, maybe more, and will need to stay at least one night each time. They also have expenses with their business by having to hire several people to take over the many jobs my mom has been doing for the last 10 years…and that’s just the surface.
Our parents do not deserve this especially after seeing myself suffer thru Breast Cancer and my sister having her Thyroid removed due to a cancerous lump. They were with both of us on our journeys and stayed positive and supportive the entire time. Having a website like this is the least we can do in return. Any amount of support would make a huge impact in all our lives.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!

Love,
Erica, Kristen and Scott
