It didn’t take long to find out what type of person Deb was when you first met her... She was the textbook definition of southern hospitality, the person who would give you the shirt off your back, and who loved wholeheartedly. Many of you know her as Ms. Debra or Deb, but no matter what you knew her as, you knew she was a wholesome soul who put love and dedication into all she did.
From the mountains of Kentucky, Deb packed up and moved to Florida with her son Evan many, many years ago. She loved the beach, and getting the sand between her toes. She loved all kinds of classic oldies, and you might have been lucky enough to hear of her wild run ins with some famous people themselves!
Not long after moving, she began working at Discovery Academy, and from there, it all began. Her calling was most definitely working with children. She was a mentor, friend, listening ear, and just the spark of joy & reassurance any child needed to succeed. She made sure each child knew how much they were loved, and they all loved her just as much.
Unfortunately, in the early morning hours of August 5, 2019, the world lost a beautiful soul. It’s hard to process and fathom the fact that she was taken entirely too soon. It was extremely unexpected, and due to that, has left her family in a tough position. If you knew her, you knew she would do anything she could to make things easier for someone if she could. She would be your shoulder to cry on, especially in times like these. Because this was so unexpected, we have no preparations for services yet. However in order to do so, and to make this heartbreaking situation easier on her family, and especially her son, we’re asking for your help. Help us make this easier for Evan, and to relieve some of the weight off of his shoulders. If you knew them, you knew how close they were, and this is extremely hard on him.
We will be making service arrangements soon, but would like to lighten the load on Evan as well as help him get on his feet, and be able to take the time to grieve that he needs. We love and appreciate you all, and appreciate the kind words and well wishes you have left for Evan and family. She was truly one of a kind and will be missed by so many.
We love you all!
