To our family, friends, and Farmingdale community,
For those of you who don’t know her, Debra Borstelmann (previously Raby) is a lifetime resident of Farmingdale. She attended Farmingdale Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1984. She is now an active member of the Women's Club of Farmingdale, and was named President last year. She also raised her two daughters, Amanda and Robyn, in Farmingdale, both of whom have gone on to graduate from college and pursue their professional careers. Debra is a single mother who helped both of her daughters through high school and college, all while remaining their biggest supporter. She's the best mom they could have asked for.
Sadly, Debra was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in August of 2020 and since then has undergone numerous rounds of treatments, spent a week in the hospital each month, including unexpected visits, and received an essential bone marrow transplant to continue her battle with cancer. As many of us know, medical bills add up quickly. Since being diagnosed, Debra has been unable to work and keep up with her finances.
Cancer is a battle like no other. It requires a ton of love and support from loved ones to get through it. Most importantly, it requires strength. It is our hope that by alleviating some of the stress of medical and other expenses, Debra and her whole family can focus all of their strength and attention to kicking leukemia’s butt!
It is our goal that we can come together as a community and help this family in need. Even the smallest donation helps. If you can’t afford to donate, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
