Deborah’s heart and double lungs transplant

Hello everyone,

My name is Deborah Scarlett, I'm 23 years old fighting a severe heart and lung condition. I was diagnosed with Asthma from birth, since July 2022 I was admitted to the hospital for high blood pressure after having an episode at work which prompted me to seek help. There, they began to run a series of tests in order to determine what was causing such high blood pressure levels.

I was diagnosed with Right Heart Failure, Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, Patent Ductus Arteriosus, Asthma, Polycythemia Vera (high red blood cell count), and an absent Pulmonary Artery, which means there is no blood flow to one of my lungs.YES WHAT THE HECK, I've had a difficult few months, but I try to mask it with a smile and an upbeat attitude. Fast forward to present, after running all the test and with all the diagnosis that I was given, the conclusion is I need a HEART and DOUBLE LUNG TRANSPLANT. I'm aware that my recovery will be lengthy, but I'm prepared to persevere. Also, I've been put on oxygen 24 hours a day because my oxygen levels would drop to as low as 76%, my fingers would turn blue, I am not able walk or do any physical activities without being tired and can't keep up. Since all of this started, I've been unable to work, and it has caused me to become unstable in certain areas. It's a lot for me to deal with because I wasn't expecting all of these new surprises.

Every month, I have to complete all of the necessary testing and procedures before we can proceed to the next big step. Yes, there are times when I wish I could go back to being my old self, but I always remind myself that this is just a temporary setback on the way to a major recovery.
