Supporting a Family After an Unimaginable Loss
In Loving Memory of Deborah Moxam
This week, our community was shaken by a heartbreaking tragedy. My friend, Deborah, lost her life in a devastating car accident. Her 19 year old daughter, who was with her at the time, survived but remains in critical condition. She underwent emergency surgery in Sudbury and is now being transferred to Ottawa for further specialized surgery. Her recovery will be long and challenging.
Deborah's three adult children are now navigating this loss together, with the youngest, age 19, still in critical condition and facing a lengthy road of healing.
Her son has stepped into a primary support role for his injured sister, taking significant time away from work to be at her side through surgeries, transfers, and recovery.
Her other daughter, a single mother of a 5 year old, had been living with Deborah. She is now suddenly faced with finding a safe and affordable home for herself and her child while grieving the loss of her mother.
In recent years, the family has endured many compounding hardships, including the loss of their father, Wade Moxam, six years ago. These challenges created ongoing financial strain, and despite tremendous resilience, there were limited resources left for emergencies.
With Deborah’s unexpected passing, the family is left with no financial safety net to help manage time away from work, urgent housing needs, travel to Ottawa for medical care, or the long recovery journey ahead for their youngest sister.
This is my reach out to the community with a heavy heart, asking for support for the family during this overwhelming time. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help ease the financial pressures they face as they grieve, heal, and rebuild. Our first financial priority is ensuring the youngest daughter receives the care and support she needs throughout her long recovery.
If you are unable to give, please consider sharing this page or keeping the family in your thoughts and prayers. Your kindness means more than you know.
Thank you for supporting this family when they need it most.
