Deborah Family Fund

Update June 26th 2025: Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Good news, Mama (Deborah) is doing more than well. She is walking, talking, living life. Manages a small garden at home, helps our family and is particpating in her local

groups when she feels physically up to it. She also fought cancer in the last 3 years and is now cancer free. Thanks for being there for us during our time of need. You all are a blessing and I wish the best for you and yours. Much love to you all.

Deborah P. (58) - Mother of Victoria Evert (28) and Grace Evert (24)

OUR STORY: On December 6th, one of our family members tested positive for Covid-19. By the time we realized what we had, it had already spread through our home. Symptoms for Deborah began slowly, but within a week she was having trouble breathing and each day began to get worse and worse. Victoria, her eldest daughter, made the call to take Deborah to the hospital. On December 16th 2pm, she was brought to the emergency room at a Hospital in Puyallup WA, and was admitted. They diagnosed her with Covid Pneumonia and she has been in the hospital ever since. This GoFundMe account was made to assist her Daughter's, Victoria and Grace, with paying regular bills for Deborah and their home while she is in the hospital. At this time, the medical bills should be handled by Apple Health. If that changes, we will let you know. Any assistance is welcome, and greatly appreciated. The goal of $5000 will be enough to help with bills for 1-3 months while Deborah is in the hospital, and hopefully soon will be home recovering. Thank you from all three of us.

Updates 12/21-12/24: Deborah was showing progress on December 21st, 22nd and 23rd with the BiPAP machine. However on December 24th, our family call was cut short due to her oxygen levels dropping. We waited for a call from the hospital regarding her status, and early on Christmas Morning Victoria received an emergency call. Deborah's oxygen levels dropped to the 60's and the situation was critical. The decision was made to have Deborah put on the ventilator and again we waited to hear back. The ventilator install was a success, and Deborah's body was working with the ventilator which was amazing news.

Updates 12/25 - 12/29: From December 25th to 27th, Deborah was under sedation and in a medical coma while the ventilator did the work for her to rest. On December 28th, the hospital reduced her sedation to perform a breathing trial. 1-2 days later, she was following commands by wiggling her toes and squeezing hands to show her motor functions were active.

TODAY: Dec. 30th, Deborah is resting between visits by the medical staff and is resting a lot. They have been turning her on her stomach and back every 2 hours. They also perform movements with her limbs to help keep muscles strong. She is off the sedation medicine at this time, and will hopefully wake up more and more as the days pass. She is still relying on the ventilator at this time, so we will have to wait and see if she is strong enough to be off the machine and breathing with a BiPAP machine again. The BiPAP is a less invasive machine, and we hope she can take that step when she is ready. We have not seen her since she was admitted on the 16th, as she is not allowed visitors at least until after she is off the ventilator. There are no major problems going on right now, so all we can do is hope and send Mom good vibes while she is there.
