On July 21, 2022 the Carlson’s got some of the worst news a family could get. Deborah had been admitted into the hospital where they originally were trying to find the cause of her shortness of breath and pain she had been enduring for months. After her Critical Care Pulmonologist performed a Bronchoscopy and took multiple samples for biopsy the pathology report confirmed she has stage III Adenocarcinoma of the lung. To make matters more complicated after meeting her oncology team the oncologist has now put in an order for a Brain MRI and a PET scan to figure out if it is truly stage 3 or if it has moved to stage 4.

TRICARE has been doing an overall good job covering most medical bills but the expenses go beyond that. The major struggle right now is commuting to doctor’s appointments with expensive gas prices, food & grocery costs, and supplementing with help for things the kids need during all of the back and forth.
