Our dear friend, Debi Cox, has been fighting stage four colon cancer since August. Deb has been an art teacher at Mckamy Middle School for many years. Words are not adequate to describe the impact she has made in the lives of hundreds of students over the years.
A single mother of two boys, Deb has always been a very self-sufficient person. I have often been in awe of her industrious spirit as she told me of yet another home improvement project, car repair, or new project for her students.
Deb has been through two major surgeries, many other surgical procedures, and rounds of chemotherapy. She has not been able to be in the classroom this school year. Because of this, she has not had a paycheck since October and is not able to return to the classroom. Her situation has been compounded by the Covid pandemic and the latest winter storm in Texas.
She is now struggling to meet day to day living expenses due to loss of income, and is facing thousands in medical expenses not covered by insurance. Please join us in helping Deb. Every little bit helps. She truly is in need.
