Debi has been waiting for a new heart for almost 5 years. The time has come and the new heart has finally arrived!
Debi went into surgery on 9/14 but not
without major complications, she was
diagnosed with PGD (Primary Graft Dysfunction) right after the surgeons replaced her old heart ( this happens to only 2% of all heart transplant patients)! At first her heart was working at minimal function with life support (Ecmo) within a few days the left side of her heart had started to function better but nothing was helping it to fully heal. Within a few more days and 4 more surgeries to clean out the chest cavity her right side started to pick up function.
She has been in ICU for a total of 10 days now but not without more complications. She now has pneumonia and the doctors are working tirelessly to regain her health and well being.
We are asking for help with post transpalnt care and living expenses.
I myself, Amber, Debi’s daughter have had to take a 3 month leave of absence from my job so that we can live near Cedars Sinai for her daily rejection test and biopsies. We are needing funds to pay for a place to live, any medical costs that we may come across in the next few months and help to support my finances.
Debi has been a light to all she comes across by putting others needs first her entire life. She cares so deeply for the light in this world.
I hope we can share some of our light with her as she has been through so much trauma the last 5 years.
Thank you and much love- Amber
