Friends and Family of Debbie Riendeau

On Thursday July 29th, Debbie was going about her daily routine and suffered a terrible accident. She slipped and fell in the shower and her hand went through the glass door. The glass broke into jagged pointed shards and punctured her hand in three places as well as her wrist which contained a major artery. This was a very serious life-threatening injury that if was not acted upon quickly could have resulted in fatal consequences. Luckily, her best friend Erika was visiting for the day and acted quickly by calling 911. The EMT's were quick to respond and take her not to the closest hospital but to Rhode Island Hospital with elevated care where she was immediately operated on to repair the severed artery. Those of us close to her cannot be more grateful to the expeditious care of these first responders.

For those of us that know Debbie - she is not one to sit still - EVER! The use of her hands is essential in her daily functions as she does house cleaning services and pet sitting services for many clients. She is diligent and reliable and depends on these functions to maintain her livelihood.

Besides servicing her community clients, Debbie frequently donates blood and plasma to the local Red Cross. As her friends and family who know her well. Debbie puts all others ahead of herself and is always a generous and giving person in all that she does.

This injury has left Debbie vulnerable and facing daily challenges, Besides her inability to perform her working duties, she needs to be very cautious not to do anything strenuous that could re-sever the artery. She required 50+ stitches and sustained extensive nerve damage and requires medical attention beyond her current means in the next many months. This includes physical therapy, pain management and possibly an additional surgery.

Her close friends and family have gathered round to provide the care she needs for daily assistance as she heals during this difficult time.

Please consider donating to help us get Debbie through the road ahead. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Calling out for all hands and all paws on deck for this special lady that means so much! Thank you for your consideration! Debbie would be so touched by all the love.
