Debbie's Lifesaving Lung Transplant
Donation protected
Debbie is a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, union member at transit 587 and friend to those in her community. She has supported and raised so many who love her and now it is time to support her through this stressful but hopeful time in her life. Diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease, Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis and Pulmonary Fibrosis a few years ago, her lung function has dramatically dropped to the point of needing a double lung transplant. There are no other options for surviving this diagnosis.
Due to medical complexity her primary pulmonologist at UW is recommending she travel to Houston, Texas to get on the waitlist for donor lungs. Debbie and her caregiver and husband of 43 years, Gene will travel to Houston in April for a week to do preliminary testing. She will then need to relocate and stay in Houston for at least a year post transplant before she is able to return to her home in Washington State.
The urgent financial impact is agonizing and while her immediate family has stepped up to help, we all need the support of the community that loves her to get her through this momentous time in her life. All funds raised will go towards medical bills, relocation, lodging and daily essentials as she is unable to work during this time.
