Debbie's Cancer Fund

Donation protected

I received a phone call from my mom on March 31st while I was sitting in my apartment in Starkville. The words I heard next left me feeling devastated, terrified and helpless all at once. THAT word.... my mom... Cancer.
A week later, she had an appointment to have her left breast removed. After the cancer and some lymph nodes were removed, the doctors were able to diagnose her with grade 3, 7 cm invasive ductal cancer with HER-2 positivity. Two of the three lymph nodes that were removed also had cancer cells. Because of this high percentage, the doctors determined that it would be best to go back in to remove more lymph nodes. In the second surgery, 17 lymph nodes were removed, and thankfully none of them had cancer cells. After a long and painful recovery from her surgeries, my mom has now started her chemo.  Her body seems to be hypersensitive to the treatments, which is causing severe reactions not typically associated in early treatment. It has been hard, and I am doing what I can to help her get comfortable when she just wants the pain to go away so she can get a few hours of sleep and to give her hugs and dry her tears when the reality of this situation gets too overwhelming. There are good days and there are bad days, we are just taking it one day at a time and working hard to keep our spirits up. The last thing we want to think about during a time like this is medical bills, but unfortunately, that is the reality. My mom is on her own, and has struggled to keep the bills paid before all of this, so worrying about a way to pay for her medical expenses is the last thing she needs to be doing while she is going through this.  I wish I was in a better place to be able to help her myself. I would give her anything I had. The least I can do is ask for your help in supporting her. I would also like to request that you keep her in your prayers. My mom is the strongest person I know and if anyone can kick cancers butt its her. If you could take the time to share this with your family, friends and friends of friends, I would really appreciate it. I will post updates through this journey to help keep everyone informed. We are planning to have fundraising events and a garage sale to further help Debbie's fight please check for updates soon.
