Support the Debbie Madow KWKM Campership!

As we prepare to celebrate the centennial of KenWood and KenMont Camp (KMKW), memories are flooding back. Summers at camp were some of the most important and joyful times of my life and the lives of so many others. But no one loved KenWood more than Debbie Madow! KenWood was truly her summer home, from Bunk 7 through her years as a counselor. I was so fortunate to spend those years and more together with her.

Despite childhood diabetes from her first year and then increasingly difficult and complex health challenges, Debbie relished her summers of fun and friendship. Those friendships became lifelong, and Debbie was the glue that kept our extended group of camp friends together over the decades. Sadly, Debbie died much too young. She would’ve loved to have been at the 100th! We would've heard her booming signature laugh from the waterfront to the flagpole and willingly had the air hugged out of us!

Debbie’s love of camp was infectious, making every camper's and staff's experience all the more joyful and life-affirming. We have created the Debbie Madow Campership to honor her memory, which is a bright light to so many. The Campership will be awarded to a child who will love camp in ways similar to Debbie but cannot attend without assistance. If we raise $10,000 (the approximate cost of one session), KenWood/KenMont camp is committed to making it possible for the Campership recipient to attend camp every year until they age out, either in MAPS or the Dodos!
