A few weeks before Christmas 2020 our mom went to her doctor for shoulder pain that had gotten progressively worse over time. By the time she went to see her doctor it was excruciating pain. They performed stress tests for stroke and a battery of additional tests. All of the test results came back negative. However this led to my mom scheduling a very long overdue mammogram. The mammogram scan showed something unusual. Before she could leave the building an assistant caught her before she reached the lobby to schedule her for an immediate ultrasound. This in turn led to the scary and official diagnosis of stage 2 breast cancer.
There is much more to her story that she will share when the time is right.
Our reason for sharing this part of our mom's journey is to publicly acknowledge her daily consistent sacrifices for those she loves and cherishes. By being a single mother that ultimately provided a beautiful home for her children, one of whom faces physical and mental barriers and will require continued care for the remainder of his life. Because of her recovery she is not working and has not worked since her diagnosis. And more than likely will not be released to return to work until her recovery is complete.
We are hoping this page will help with recurring medical needs; necessary home repairs; and a few outstanding medical needs etc. We also hope sharing her story will remind women of the importance of making themselves and their health a priority. No one thrives when you neglect your physical health.
