Debbie is a valued member of our community that needs our help. After surviving being shut down and limited because of Covid restrictions, things were finally getting back to normal for this self-employed, single health practitioner when she was hit with an unexpected and devastating setback.
On May 16th, Debbie went in for minor foot surgery. After three weeks, when she was set to get back to work, she developed a life-threatening systemic infection called sepsis. After a week in the hospital that included another surgery and IV antibiotics, Debbie was sent home with home care, where she continued to heal and recover with IV antibiotics. She is now waiting to be completely infection free to go back in and have her foot fused so that she can get back to work. This will involve another 12 or more weeks of recovery that will prevent her from working. Not working for another few months will have a devastating impact on her whole situation. She doesn't qualify for disability because of her self-employment status and has used up the reserves she had saved.
Debbie doesn't want to ask for help with this situation because she has always been able to take care of herself, but she's in danger of losing her house and the office where she works if she doesn't find some support from somewhere. She is a gifted health and wellness practitioner that has selflessly helped many people heal. It's our turn to give back to her! Any amount can help!
