Hi, I'm Monica Brewer and am writing today to ask if you have ever had the good fortune to meet the sweetest 11-year-old boy who loves playing football and basketball with his teammates, is an animal lover, especially of his dogs, Cameron and Mickie, lives for Kansas City Chiefs football, masters all video games (to the dismay of his older brother and his buddies), giggles with his best friend, cracks the funniest one-liner’s, cuddles with his grandpa and adores his parents and brother? If not, let me introduce you to Mason Dearth; a wonderful boy who is more like family than friend to us Brewer's and who encapsulates all the above...and so much more.
Unfortunately, Mason was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma on the last weekend of September and has faced a whirlwind of events following his diagnosis. This adorable 6th grader, with the loving support of his parents, Ross and Elizabeth and big brother, Jackson, in just five short days since being admitted to the hospital has had to handle a battery of tests performed over consecutive days, dealt with the shock of his diagnosis, been forced to schedule and begin an aggressive chemotherapy treatment plan, juggled school and work schedules and tackled so many other emotional and physical rollercoasters all while trying to come to terms with their new reality and prepare for battle. If you know anything about the Dearth family then you know they're competitive as hell, prepare themselves for competition, mentally and physically, and attack fiercely, and as a unit.
With this chaotic entry into the unknown where medical costs, the impact of time away from work and school, travel fees to and from Columbus, etc., are so overwhelming and foreign, we are asking that you open your hearts and offer any kind of financial support possible to this family. Our hope is they can maintain focus on the fight ahead and support Mason with 100% of their attention without the distraction and concern of a monetary struggle weighing on their minds.
Those of us close to the family have 100% confidence Mason WILL DEFEAT CANCER and his heroic bravery will have a positive impact on all of us and will pave the way for a happy, HEALTHY, and rewarding life ahead.
All our love and appreciation,
