Hello all, I am writing to ask for help to ensure my parents are taken care of through this stressful time. I don’t want them to stress too much about the loss of income and added expenses.

On Saturday, October 1st Dean Bode had a major heart attack. By the grace of God, he was rushed to the ER in Astoria. Where he received immediate medical attention. Once there they were told he would be life flighted to Idaho if a bed closer didn’t open up. While the team was preparing to make those arrangements, a bed in Vancouver Washington was found. He was then transferred by ambulance to Vancouvers cardiac unit. This is where the team of cardiologists discovered he would need to have life-saving open heart surgery if he wanted any chance at remaining alive.

The cardiologists discovered only 35% of his heart was working and that all of his arteries were blocked except for 1. That 1 remaining artery was only working a remaining 5%.

Dean is an independent contractor through USPS. This means he does not work for USPS but himself. This also means he does not have any benefits from his job. Meaning no medical leave or recovery time. His bread-winning income stopped on the day of his heart attack. The average price for a triple bypass in Washington state is $61,931. While he has made it through this surgery he still has a long road to recovery. They will also have a long road to pay off these medical bills.
