I'm Dean Otto, a 51 year old runner from Charlotte, NC. My life changed on September 24th, 2016. I was paralyzed from the waist down when I was hit by a truck riding my bike in Charlotte, NC.
Acceptance and Forgiveness have been key for me. Today I am making a miraculous recovery and want to give back to help those less fortunate come back from spinal cord injuries.
Through cooperation with my surgeon Dr. Matt McGirt, Stryker Spine, the medical company that made the surgical devices in my back, the Carolinas Medical Center hospital system and their foundation, we are raising money to fund the LIFE Program for Spinal Cord Injury patients.
The LIFE Program was created to assist patients with spinal cord injury to address common issues and problems associated with their injury and includes an emphasis on wellness, health literacy and employment or vocational training. They can't afford this program without our help!
