Deanos Snake Shack
Donation protected
Deano's Snake Shack is a privately owned rescue center based in Ditchling, East Sussex.
The Snake Shack is funded by Deano who works full time on his family's farm. No profit is taken and all money raised goes back in to caring for our rescue animals.
Bucket shaking is not our strong point and so we also offer fun, educational animal experiences in return for donations. This is vital to the upkeep of Snake Shack but sadly with Deano being so busy on the farm our educational visits are limited.
At the Snake Shack, animal welfare is paramount and so we do not take our animals off site. We strongly believe that transporting animals around in a vehicle can be stressful and detrimental to their health. We are lucky enough to have an amazing space for people to come and meet them in the safety and comfort of the animal's own home.
Our educational experiences aim to:
- Educate people on all aspects of animal care and husbandry.
- Raise awareness of the pet trade. (Good and bad.)
- Make people aware of the commitment of these animals.
- Inspire a love and passion for these animals.
- Raise awareness of the importance of local wildlife.
We are only able to continue this important work because of the kind donations that we receive.
Currently, there is a significant amount of animals in need just in our local area and therefore we have a very large waiting list. We receive around 5-10 calls a week for various unwanted Reptiles, Amphibians and Invertebrates! But it doesn't stop there, last month we took on two meerkats that were needing to be rehomed. They are settling in to the Shack so well and are happy in their new home.
Not only will your donations go towards the day to day care and upkeep of the Snake Shack, but it will allow us to update and renovate some of our older enclosures. We will be able to purchase heat mats, lighting and vital enrichment activities for our animals.
Current outgoings.
- Electricity Bills (Lots of these animals need special lights and heat. )
- Food (We are now growing our own vegetables to reduce this cost.)
- Rent (Deano pays the monthly rent out of his paycheck.)
- Enrichment (This isn't our biggest cost but is highly important.)
- Maintenance ( All our areas need to be maintained along with our equipment and enclosures.)
- Vets Bills ( Sadly being a rescue centre it is very rare for an animal to be brought in without any health issues. Normally this requires immediate vet attention which is £60 just to see the animal without any treatment!)
Thank you so much for supporting our little rescue centre, with your help we hope to continue to giving love to the unloved animals of the world.
