Deanne Skivington Stroke Recovery Fund
Donation protected
After MUCH deliberation, Deanne's family has decided that the best way to give Deanne the time she needs to heal and recover is to begin a fund. As most of you will know, Deanne suffered a massive stroke in August and has a severe case of aphasia: the inability to express herself. What this means is that she has to learn to speak, read and write all over again. While she is progressing well and her prognosis is good, it will be months before she will be able to fully communicate again. Also as most of you will know, Deanne is an acupuncturist with a thriving practice, however the challenge of being your own business owner is that when you don't work, you don't get paid. So, absolutely no income to cover rent, food, insurance, or any other living or business expense.
This fund is to pay the rent on her home and business for 6 months - her family will be able to help her pay her other bills during this time. Thanks to the generous help of the W.E.L. Foundation, a few months of her home rent have been paid, so the amount we are looking to raise is for the remainder needed to have Deanne's rent paid for 6 months, allowing her the time to heal, recover her communication, and begin working again.
We (her sisters, parents, and sons) thank you, in advance, from the bottom of our hearts for anything you can contribute. It is with hesitation we start this fund, but also gratitude for how challenging times like these are when we experience the best that communities embody.
