Dean is a Miracle
Donation protected
Dean Logan Lacey came into this world December 13th fighting for his tiny life. As a healthy baby throughout pregnancy, doctors still don't have a clear answer as to why Dean was born with unforeseen complications. He doesn't have a long term condition or a disease with a name, but experienced a complicated medical event. In short, Dean is a miracle. After his delivery in DeLand, Dean had to be airlifted to a NICU in Orlando to be diagnosed and treated appropriately as he was born with difficulty breathing and a swollen abdomen. With this rare event, doctors had to look at all of his body systems and run many tests. At only 24 hours old, he had to have a major abdominal surgery where they found he experienced an intestinal rupture; his intestines were torn and needed repairing. He currently requires many machines to help him regulate his tiny body since he cannot do it himself yet while he heals. He will also require an additional surgery in a few weeks to finish repairing the damaged intestines. While this sounds grave, doctors are very hopeful that Dean will recover fully and have a normally functioning belly soon. He has a long road ahead but is getting stronger every day.
An event like this not only brings intense grief and stress to a beautiful new family but it also brings extensive medical expenses. Many people have asked how one can help in such a helpless situation; we ask that you consider donating to help decrease the burden on the parents of this amazing little boy.
Dean's parents and extended family cannot thank you enough for your outpour of prayers, positive thoughts and encouraging words throught out this time.
