Dean was involved in a serious motorcycle accident on May 6, 2022. He is currently hospitalized at Region’s in the ICU in critical condition. He has multiple spinal fractures, multiple rib fractures, multiple facial fractures, a scapula fracture, a tear in his aorta, a small pneumothorax, and a small brain bleed. He has already had 6 units of blood. They are just monitoring the brain bleed for now. His aorta tear should heal on its own. The big concern is the spinal fractures and that he is not responding to pain stimuli on his lower extremities. He will have surgery for the spinal fractures but that isn’t scheduled yet. He does have a severe bruise on the spinal cord that only God can heal. This will determine if he will be able to walk again. He is beginning to become more aware and is starting to track the nurse with his eyes, nod his head yes/no in response to their questions, and is able to give thumbs up with both hands. He will have surgery to put screws, plates, and rods in his neck as several of the cervical bones were shattered. He will have a long, hard road of recovery ahead of him. We are asking for financial assistance to help with the hospital bills, life bills since he is not able to work, and any other expenses related to his recovery.
