Dealing with the loss of Gary Higgins

Donation protected

My name is Desiree and I am the eldest daughter of Gary and Lisa Higgins. On behalf of my brothers and sisters- Nicholas, Tiffany, Carissa and Zebulun, It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father on Monday January 22nd, 2024. Many of our friends and family know how hard he worked to provide for his wife, his farm, and his home. There was never a project that he couldn't tackle. There was never a request that he ever said no too. I can't count the number of times that he has driven hours just to meet halfway and bring his grandkids home for a visit. Not to mention any other time any of us needed help, he was there without question. Now that he's gone, we will not only lose a major support person in our family. But my mother who is on disability, and the animals on their farm and also their pets have nobody to provide and take care of them. Gary was the sole income earner for the household, as my mother has been on disability for a number of years now. We are shocked and devastated in this time as Gary's death was sudden and unexpected. As the 5 of his children have come together to help our mother with arrangements while she is grieving, we are coming to know the great difficulties she will face without a provider and while we take time to figure out what will happen to the "Higgins Family Homestead", my mother desperately needs her animals to be fed, bills to be paid and food on her table. We have also been enlightened by the Legal costs that have already started to incur. It is simply too much for us to handle. I am hoping those who know Gary and Mailiis (Lisa) Know that they have given everything they have to help others, countless times over, even when they have nothing left for themselves. And given the hardships that my mother has been through in her lifetime, this is the one time that we will ask for help on her behalf so we can try to ease her suffering as much as possible.

We will be holding a funeral service in 100 Mile House on Saturday February 10th at 1pm. We will also be holding a Celebration of life in the coming months for those who would like to attend, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church. (Details will be announced in the near future).

Thank you to all those who have reached out to our family already, and for everyone's support. We appreciate it more than you know.
