My lovely and talented daughter, Daphne, is battling synovial sarcoma, a soft tissue cancer, for the second time. Daphne was first diagnosed in 2020 and underwent two surgeries and radiation. Over the past 3 years, Daphne resumed her life to the fullest—getting married and diving into her passion as a social change practitioner, tapping her performance and dramatherapist techniques and experience to help marginalized youth all over Canada.
On June 16, during a scheduled check-up, we were told the cancer returned in her head, which is a rare and unfortunately, not well researched location. She will soon undergo 3 rounds of intense chemotherapy, more surgeries and specialized treatment. She is unable to work at the job she loves at Cirkaskina, Cirque Hors Piste’s national component based in Montreal, a wonderful nonprofit that uses circus for social change, as she focuses her energy on the difficult medical road ahead.
I hope you can help Daphne cope with the loss of her income and specialized medical treatments so she can focus on staying strong to beat cancer once again.
