Deaf Students' Cultural Journey: Trip Gallaudet University

Hello!

I am a teacher of the Deaf to the most amazing students in the world! We are planning a trip to visit Gallaudet University in Washington D.C., the only Deaf University in the world! Gallaudet University is the epicenter of Deaf culture and one of the few places Deaf individuals can communicate with ease, an experience I would love for my students to partake in. Gallaudet is also home to a collection of historic Deaf artifacts that would allow my students to learn from their community about the history of their community. Additionally, this trip provides a rare opportunity for students to witness Deaf adults striving for higher education and successful careers. This is incredibly important as our Deaf students do not often have the opportunity to see themselves in the adults around them. However, unfortunately many students cannot afford the fee associated with the transportation as this is an out of state trip.
