Asking for help is difficult when you are so accustomed to giving. This year has been one of the most challenging years for all of us. This pandemic has caused financial, mental, and physical stress on our economy. Just when we thought it couldn't get any worse, my brother, Michael, was diagnosed with one of the most fatal cancers, pancreatic cancer.
Michael has always been hardworking, caring, and giving. Evident by the time he spent in the marines serving our country. Still today, he enjoys helping his family and loved ones with various tasks. He is always very optimistic about life; even as he is overcoming losing most of his sight with glaucoma, he never complains about his physical limitations.
Over the past couple of months, even though he remains strong for his family and doesn't complain, we notice how the cancer progression has taken a toll on him. Although he has some good days, he has lost over thirty pounds. He is weak, doesn't have an appetite, and, most of all, he cannot do what he enjoys, which is helping others. To see a man who was once so strong now suffering from nausea, pain, and weakness is heartbreaking. Sometimes he is so weak; he doesn't have the physical strength to get out of bed. This brings tears to my eyes. To see a man who always saw the brighter side of things now sit in silence, you can only imagine what goes through his mind.
The doctors here in Chicago have done all they can, and as grateful as we are, we continued to pray and search for someone or something that could give us more hope. Thanks to the most high, we have found a surgeon, unfortunately out of state, but the surgeon feels he can extend and improve my brother quality of life.
This go fund me account will help my brother to receive the care he needs. We understand there are no grantees in life, and when the most high says it's our time, it is nothing man can do to prevent that. However, please consider helping. If you have ever had a love one to be ill not just from cancer, but from any sickness you can understand why we are willing to fight until the end to help Michael be with us as long as possible. With your help, Michael can regain hope and enjoy life again.
Thank you in advance for your prayers, thoughts, and contributions.
