Deadly Christmas Day car crash
Donation protected
On Christmas Day a tragic motor vehicle accident occurred in Oregon. The dog world and military world is asked to come together again to assist in this horrific disaster. Emily Kerridge, a single mom, was traveling with her toddler son in her only vehicle that she uses for her career as a dog handler and breeder. She hit a black ice zone and was involved in a multiple car crash. Her vehicle was rolled multiple times. In her care was a female dog who has just had a c section., 2 puppies less than a day old, 3 other adult dogs, and herself and her young son. The 4 dogs and newborns were responsibly kenneled, but due to the violent nature of the accident, the kennels were damaged and the newly delivered bitch who had just had a c- section was lost in the crash and escaped, one precious puppy died from its injuries and one dog was severely injured with a broken back. Initially that dog's recovery outlook was optimistic . However, she deteriorated and was unfortunately lost to her injuries today despite intensive efforts to save her. Reports on remaining dogs are pending. Emily and her son were transported to the hospital and sustained THANK fully non-life threatening injuries. Her vehicle, which is her source of income for travel and transport of animals that she is showing has been totaled. She is facing exorbitant rising financial expenses - there were huge vet bills for evaluation of all of the dogs injured in the wreck, intensive care for the two unfortunate dogs that succumbed to their injuries, her own medical costs for the emergent care and evaluation of herself and her son and the need to replace her only means of transportation and employment. Additionally, due to her injuries , it is unlikely she will be able to work for some time. The financial ramifications of this event will undoubtedly continue to rise. Emily is one of our dog world family. She also is in the military and serves our nation. She is a single mom and has been devastated by this Christmas tragedy and the death and loss of her beloved dogs and newborn puppy. Hundreds of people offered their help on the day of the accident to try to catch the escaped post op bitch- many feet were on the ground - but now- as the losses continue with today's death of precious Nephthys, the Pharaoh, Emily could really use assistance. Emily is in the Reserves so does not have full military benefits. Please come to the aid of one of our own. Any donation will be so appreciated. Thank you.
Addendum: Emily is the daughter of Sarah Kerridge and the Pharaoh Hound that died yesterday was owned by Alex Wood- hopefully we can find it in our hearts to realize this is a complex and awful situation and we can raise enough to help defray expenses for everyone.
