Welcome.
We are a team of post-grad twenty-something theatre majors attempting to put a hilariously-written, heartbreakingly beautiful show (Veronica Tjioe's Dharma Grace award-winning play "Dead Dog's Bone: A Birthday Play") in the Hollywood Fringe Festival this coming June. We've assembled a team of University-trained actors and designers from all across the state: UC Santa Cruz, UC Irvine, UCLA, and more. This is a play that we as a team believe to have value and importance; a show that we are eager to share with the Fringe Festival, Los Angeles, and the theatre community.
Without the financial assistance of a school or the allotted budget of a theatre company, taking on a project of this magnitude can be incredibly daunting. Before a single line can be uttered or ticket can be sold we as a company must pay a number of substantial fees, pull together budgets for our designers, and plan ahead for odd expenses such as advertising, programs, and paying for rehearsal spaces.
The objective of this production is not to make a profit; we do not expect to make millions from our intimate performance of an original work. This is partially because we're not completely deluded, but mostly because our sole goal is to bring thoughtful and deliberate theatre to as many people as we can.
This is where we turn to you, the people reading this who hopefully fall into one of the aforementioned categories at the beginning of this spiel. We as a team will be pulling as much as we can from our admittedly shallow pockets to finance this project, but without your help, we (remember that thing about being post-grad and twenty-something?) simply cannot afford to bring this production to life.
If you believe that theatre matters and you want to be a part of producing something incredible, we ask you to donate to this, our humble and perhaps too wordy gofundme page. Any amount of money you are able to donate will make a huge difference and bring us closer to being able to bring affordable and thoughtful theatre to this year's Hollywood Fringe Festival.
