We’re a team of passionate film students bringing Dead of Fright, a chaotic horror-comedy short film, to life. The story follows Gilbert and Melvin, two gravediggers whose quiet night shift turns into chaos when the dead rise from their graves and they stumble into a castle inhabited by a mad scientist and a host of bizarre monsters. We’re raising funds to cover essential production costs such as makeup, props, special effects, equipment, catering, travel, and location fees, helping us create a professional and memorable short film to share with audiences and film festivals.

The film is inspired by our love of classic slapstick comedy from Laurel and Hardy, Buster Keaton, The Three Stooges, and Looney Tunes, blended with the style and atmosphere of classic gothic horror from Universal Studios monsters like Dracula, and Frankenstein.

We are filming on location at a real castle to preserve authenticity, and will be using a wide range of practical effects, including prosthetic makeup, miniatures, and stop-motion animation, to bring this spooky world to life.

To be fully transparent, we’ve created a breakdown of how your donations will be used. Around 25% will go towards props and costumes to bring our monsters to life, 25% towards special effects including makeup, miniatures, and stop motion, and 25% towards travel to get our cast, crew, and equipment to locations like the castle. 20% will cover catering, making sure everyone is fed and energised during long shoot days, and the final 5% will go towards festival submissions, helping us share Dead of Fright with wider audiences once it’s complete. Every pound goes directly back into making the film the best it can be.
