de Lagarde's fund for Stand

In 2022, Sarah de Lagarde faced a profound personal challenge when an accident on the London Underground resulted in her becoming a double amputee. This life-altering event required her to adapt to entirely new circumstances.

In August 2024, Sarah, along with her family, including her two daughters aged 9 and 13, will embark on an ambitious journey to climb Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 meters / 19,340 feet). This climb holds special significance as it marks her return to the place she visited just weeks before her accident, symbolizing her determination to reclaim her life.

The six-day climb will be particularly arduous for Sarah as a prosthetic wearer. She will be supported by medical professionals Catherine Weber (trauma physio), Kat Sizer (prosthetic rehabilitation physio), and Elisha Elliott (osteopath movement specialist).

In support of this challenging adventure, we have chosen to back STAND, a charity close to our hearts. Your generosity towards this organization is greatly appreciated.

STAND reduces medical waste by collecting redundant prosthetic limbs from around the UK, transforming the lives of amputees in low-income African countries.

Minimise waste, maximize life.
